Jonas Simaitis (23), of St Patrick’s Street, Keady, was given a four-month jail sentence, suspended for two years for assaulting the officers and fined £200 with a £15 offender levy for resisting police.

District Judge Eamonn King heard that a female police officer had her watch and engagement ring damaged during the alteration at Dungannon Road on June 18 last year. Counsel prosecuting said Simaitis became “very aggressive” towards officers when he was spoken to about attempting to take a vehicle.

The lawyer said the tyres of the vehicle had dug deep into the ground due to the wheels spinning and damage had been caused to a lock on a gate at the yard.

Simaitis was not professionally represented.
