Sixty second check will make your car safe

BANBRIDGE District Policing Partnership (DPP) and Gilford Community Liaison Committee (CPLC) are working with local PSNI Neighbourhood Officers to raise awareness with people across the Gilford Area about making sure that their cars are safe.

A simple but effective ’60 second checklist’ is shown on the reverse of a free tax disc/MoT disc holder to remind motorists about what they should do before they leave their cars.

Councillor Seamus Doyle, Chairman of Banbridge DPP, commented, “On behalf of the DPP and Gilford Area CPLC, we’re delighted to support this initiative which reminds motorists to take simple precautions that can help to prevent their car from being broken into.

“The tax disc holders are being provided free of charge and can be obtained from the Gilford Community Resource Centre, the Laurencetown Community Centre, or the Scarva Post Office.”

Inspector Gillespie, PSNI Banbridge sector inspector, continued, “Members of the public can help stop themselves falling victim to this type of crime by ensuring all valuables are either removed completely from their vehicle or kept well out of sight. Taking 60 seconds to prevent the long term distress caused by criminality is time well spent.”
