They are examining the scene at the bar where a serious assault occurred at 9.30pm on Sunday night.

Earlier today police confirmed that they had arrested a 33-year-old man following what they called “a serious assault on a 31-year-old man” at licensed premises in Duke Street, at approximately 9.30pm on Sunday.

It is understood the 31-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment to facial injuries and as of this afternoon, the 33-year-old remained in police custody. It is believed no weapons were used in the assault.
