Suspect to appear in court charged with arson and threats to kill after flat blaze

A 31-year-old man is to appear in court this morning facing charges of arson and threats to kills in relation to a fire in a Ballymoney flat.

Police previously appealed for information about a fire in a flat on Charles Street in Ballymoney, which was reported at 9:25pm on Friday.

Two men who were in the property at the time managed to get themselves out and to safety through an upstairs window.

Inspector Stephen McCafferty said: “Thankfully, no injuries have been reported in what was a terrifying ordeal for the occupants.”

A 31-year-old suspect will appear before Ballymena Magistrates Court this morning.

He has been charged by police with arson endangering life with intent and threats to kill.
