Suspended jail for benefit fraudsters

Two men were convicted at Craigavon Court on Tuesday last for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.

Martin Keegan (57) of St Pauls Place, Lurgan, claimed Jobseekers Allowance totalling £4,969 while failing to declare employment. He was given a four month prison sentence suspended for 18 months.

Ivan McGuinness (49) of Bayview Park, Craigavon, claimed Jobseekers Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £13,091 while failing to declare an occupational pension. He was given a six month prison sentence suspended for two years.

Both are also required to repay any outstanding money.
