Suspended jail term for Larne man

A Larne man with a previous record who stole goods worth £8 from B&M Bargains in the town has been given a two months prison term, suspended for a year.

Joseph Forsythe (21), of Fairway, committed theft on December 6, 2020.

The case was mentioned at Antrim Magistrates Court, sitting in Ballymena.

District Judge Nigel Broderick said he had not many sentencing options as there was “limited merit in Probation” and the defendant did not consent to Community Service. He acknowledged it was a small theft but the defendant had been in court before.
