The Court heard she was agitated and screaming and shouting at the police and at one stage McDaid lunged towards an officer and had to be restrained. When told to go home she shouted “what the f*** are you going to do about it”, lunged at another officer and attempted to bite another.

The police did not sustain any injuries and when McDaid was placed into a police car she was co-operative’

Kevin Casey, defending, told the court the man who was being arrested was no stranger to the court.

Describing it as an emotional situation he said McDaid got involved in something she shouldn’t have.

Mr Casey said his the 20-year-old client recently had a child and the father was not going to be available for some time as he was in custody.

He said it was a ‘Tammy Wynette inspired piece of behaviour’.

Imposing a conditional discharge, District Judge Barney McElholm said he hoped her taste in men improved over the years and warned her not to get into any further trouble with police.
