Family of teenage girl who suffered severe facial lacerations in Portadown crash asking people to keep her in their prayers

The family of a teenage pedestrian, who suffered multiple fractures and lacerations during a single vehicle crash on Tuesday, have asked the public to keep Sarah-Louise in their prayers.

Sarah-Louise McCauley, who is from Scotch Street in Portadown, was rushed to Craigavon Area Hospital on Tuesday after the one-vehicle crash on the Derrylettiff Road, Portadown.

Her family have spoken of how hard and distressing recent days have been.

Her sister Jessica Abraham said: “Thanks to everyone who has kept our Sarah-Louise in their thoughts and prayers over the past few days. It’s been a very hard and distressing time for us all as a family to witness this.

“Just an update on Sarah-Louise, she is currently still in Craigavon Hospital waiting for scan results before she can be transferred to the Ulster Hospital to specialists for plastic surgery on her severe facial lacerations.

“She’s also got two bleeds on the brain, a bleed and bruising on her lung, a broken nose with multiple fractures, fractures in her femur and a lot of bruising and cuts to her whole body.

“Sarah-Louise is the most loving and kind natured wee girl, anyone who has met her will agree and she didn’t deserve this.

“If everyone could keep her in their prayers over the next few days we as a family would greatly appreciate it. My little sister is the strongest girl I have ever seen.”

On Wednesday a PSNI spokesperson said: “Police received a report of a one-vehicle road traffic collision involving a pedestrian in the Derrylettiff Road area of Portadown at around 8.45 last night.

“It was reported that a teenage girl was knocked down. Officers attended alongside colleagues from NIAS, and the girl was taken to hospital for treatment to her injuries.

“Inquiries are ongoing into this incident and police would ask anyone who witnessed the collision to contact them on 101 and quote reference 1720 31/10/23.”

Reports that this was a hit-and-run incident have been discounted. No one has been arrested or charged.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
