Theft led to drugs offences

Stealing a tube of Bonjela from a supermarket led to a 29 year old man getting caught for supplying and possessing drugs.

Robert Gerard McCambley, of no fixed abode, appeared by way of videolink from Maghaberry prison last Friday at Craigavon Magistrates Court.

He admitted the theft of a tube of Bonjela, valued at £2.50, from Tescos on March 13 this year, possession of a class B drug, cannabis, with intent to supply on March 26 and possession of herbal cannabis on the same date.

McCambley was sentenced for four months in custody for each offence. They are to run concurrently with each other and with the terms he is already serving.

The court heard that on March 13 at 10.30am security staff at Tescos reported that two men took a tube of Bonjela and left without paying.

McCambley was identified in CCTV. On March 26 police spoke to him and after a search of his property drugs were seized.

During interview he admitted the theft and said that he sold the drugs via a website. He had been doing it for a couple of months to make money.

A solicitor for the defendant said he had a problem with alcohol and drugs and because of them he had no recollection of the theft.
