Theft of picnic table a ‘cruel blow’ for men’s shed group

A Portadown community group has expressed its shock after a picnic table its members had constructed was stolen.

A spokesman for Portadown Men’s Shed said: “When we arrived up at the Edenvilla site this morning (Wednesday, August 26) we were distraught to find that a 6ft heavyweight picnic table and two matching chairs as shown in the photo had been stolen over the weekend!

“These were only just built for a customer and were left outside the Shed but inside the council compound ready for delivery.

“This is a cruel blow to the Shed which depends upon the generosity of local businesses and volunteers to stay afloat.

“We would ask you for help in the possible recovery of these items should you notice them for sale in online sites or should you see them in someone’s garden.

“The police have been informed.
