Thought she was insured to drive van

A woman who was not insured to drive her husband’s van was given six penalty points last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court.

Forty one year old Caroline Flanagan, of Kilvergan Heights, Lurgan, was also fined £100 for driving without insurance and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard that on April 20 at 2.20pm in the Northway was stopped while driving a van. She said that she had insurance.

She later produced insurance at Lurgan police station and it transpired she was not covered.

Mr Peter Murphy, representing the defendant, said she was covered to drive the family car and thought she was covered to drive her husband’s van.
