A pensioner who crashed into the car in front while looking in the rear mirror, was fined £215 with seven penalty points at East Tyrone Magistrates Court, sitting in Dungannon, on Friday.

A pensioner who crashed into the car in front while looking in the rear mirror, was fined £215 with seven penalty points at East Tyrone Magistrates Court, sitting in Dungannon, on Friday.

Gerard O’Kane (69), of Lisnastrane Park, Coalisland, admitted driving carelessly at Coalisland Road on March 28, 2019.

Prosecuting counsel said the charge arose out of a three vehicle accident at temporary traffic lights.

She said the defendant collided with an Audi car stopped at the lights which in turn collided with the vehicle in front of it. Three people were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Jarlath Faloon, solicitor, said O’Kane had a lapse in concentration.
