Took car and damaged it

Two men who took a car without the owner’s permission caused so much damage to it the vehicle was left undriveable, Craigavon Magistrates Court heard last Wednesday.

One of those responsible, 23-year-old Jason McConnell, Monbreif Walk, Lurgan, admitted taking the vehicle without consent and damaging it, not having insurance and not having a driving licence on May 6.

The court heard that the injured party reported to police that damage had been caused to his car. There was oil pouring out of the vehicle.

The damage amounted to approximately £700 and the car was undriveable.

His girlfriend said her cousins were responsible. Both of the males had taken turns to drive the vehicle.

The court heard that the co-accused was in England.

A barrister for McConnell said he had not consumed alcohol since this incident.

The case was adjourned until September 13.
