Translink: ‘No inappropriate behaviour’ took place at bus toilets

TRANSLINK says it has reviewed CCTV images after claims a customer came across two teens “having sex” in it’s Cookstown bus depot toilets and no inappropriate behaviour took place.

Last week the MAIL reported that a local woman claimed to have came across the couple, who she said were “no older than 16” behaving inappropriately close to the waiting area of the toilets.

Transport officials this week said they reviewed the CCTV images and that no inappropriate behaviour taking place on the Cookstown Ulsterbus premises.

“Translink wishes to clarify a report that appeared in the Mid Ulster Mail on July 2nd 2012, entitled ‘Public Lewd behaviour will not be tolerated’,” said the Translink spokesperson.

“On Friday 20th July a member of the public advised an Ulsterbus driver at Cookstown Bus Station that there were two young people behaving inappropriately on the property.

“CCTV of the alleged incident was subsequently reviewed by senior Translink personnel and we can confirm that there was no inappropriate behaviour taking place on the Cookstown Ulsterbus premises.“

The statement continued: “We would like to assure our customers that their safety and comfort is a key priority for Translink. CCTV is used to monitor activity at many of our properties and facilities and those engaged in inappropriate behaviour may be identified and reported to the PSNI.”

The incident was alleged to have happened on July 2nd at around 6pm. The PSNI confirmed that no report had been made to police on the alleged incident.
