Turned left and breached traffic sign

A Lurgan motorist turned left when he should have gone straight ahead at a junction in the town.

Thirty six year old Andrew Fitzpatrick, of McGreavy Park, Lurgan, was fined £60 last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for contravening a traffic sign on April 12.

He was also ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard that he turned left from William Street into North Street in breach of an ahead only sign.

Mr Paddy Moriarty, representing the defendant, said Fitzpatrick accepted that he should have turned left.

He added that it was something he had seen happen time out of number.
