Two females arrested on suspicion of theft in Lisburn and attempted theft from toy retailer in Newtownabbey after car intercepted
Two females were arrested on suspicion of theft and attempted theft in Co Antrim after police stopped a vehicle found to have no valid insurance on Monday (November 2).
The car was stopped by Road Policing Interceptors from Sprucefield who, after further checks, established that the driver held only a Republic of Ireland provisional driving licence.
Police added: “The vehicle was also linked to a number of reported thefts in the Lisburn area. Further enquiries established that the two female occupants were suspected of involvement in an incident at a toy retailer in Newtownabbey earlier today.
"During this incident, a shopping trolley containing goods valued in excess of £850 had allegedly been filled and positioned near the store’s exit, with the intention of removing the items without payment.

"As a result of police enquiries both females were arrested on suspicion of theft and attempted theft. The driver was additionally arrested on suspicion of a number of motoring offences. The vehicle was seized.
“Road Policing Interceptors from Sprucefield continue to work closely with local policing teams to identify those suspected of involvement in criminal activity, disrupt offending and keep our communities safe.”
