Michaela Carol McCann (29), of Lisnatraine Park, Coalisland, admitted charges of assaulting the male and criminal damage on July 23, 2017.

Imposing the fines, Deputy District Judge Noel Dunlop said he would make no order with regard to compensation.

The court heard the offences arose out of a row between the occupants of two vehicles, and that CCTV showed the defendant approaching the injured party.

Counsel prosecuting said the injured party later noticed a dent in the off-side front wing of his vehicle which he estimated at £200 to repair.

Defence lawyer Noel Dillon said the defendant had never been shown the CCTV footage but the driver of her vehicle had. He said she admitted the assault and kicking out at the car but had never been made aware of the £200 compensation, or if the car had been fixed.

Mr Dillon pointed out the incident happened in 2017 and the defendant had not been interviewed about the matter until a year later.

He said McCann, who works in a retail shop, had received a Conditional Discharge for another matter in April of 2017, but had managed to put this type of offending behind her.

“There was a period of time when she was committing a number of crimes as she had taken her mother’s death very badly,” he added.
