Windows were smashed in the buildings which are still under construction in the Garvaghy Road area sometime on Sunday night/Monday morning (Arpil 26/27).

A spokesperson for Obins Street and Park Road Community Association said: “Absolutely disgusting that some think its ok to cause criminal damage to homes on the Garvaghy Road that are being built for those in need. If you seen anything please contact the PSNI. About time the entire community started to take control again.”

Sinn Fein Cllr Paul Duffy said: “I strongly condemn this act of vandalism. This new housing development, of one and two bed apartments, is to help meet the local demand for housing and some ground floor properties are designated for disabled accommodation. This sort of mindless destruction does nothing to help an ever increasing demand for housing. I would ask if anyone has any information on this to contact the PSNI.”
