Witnesses sought after man reported acting suspiciously in Whiteabbey

Police in Newtownabbey have issued advice to residents after receiving a report of a man acting suspiciously outside a house in the Shore Road area of Whiteabbey on August 10.

Commenting on the incident, which occurred on Monday evening, Inspector Patrick Mullan said: “We received a report around 8.30pm that a man had entered the back yard of a property. When confronted by the occupant, the intruder became evasive and subsequently ran off.

“Officers attended, but there was no sign of the suspect.

“I’m keen to take the opportunity to remind all local residents to be proactive about home security.

“Remember to close and lock all doors and windows. Consider, for example, installing an alarm system or security lights. For advice on home security, contact your local Crime Prevention Officer on 101.”

Anyone with information, or who noticed any suspicious activity in the area, is asked to contact officers on 101 quoting reference number 2159 of 10/08/20.
