Witnesses sought after watch, laptops and cash stolen from vehicles in Newtownabbey

Police are appealing for information after thefts from vehicles in Newtownabbey over the past week.

The Times understands the incidents occurred on October 22 and October 26, but details were only made public by the police today (Wednesday, October 28).

Detailing the incidents, a PSNI spokesperson said: “Sometime between 12pm and shortly after 1.50pm on October 22, it was reported that entry was gained to a car parked at the Abbey Centre area and a watch was taken.

“It is not believed that any damage was reported to the vehicle during the incident.

“Meanwhile, shortly before 2.10pm on Monday, October 26, it was reported to police that the window of a blue Mercedes Vito van was smashed as it was parked at the Church Road area.

“A number of items, including three laptops and a sum of money were taken during the incident.

“Enquiries are continuing and although police are not currently investigating a link between these incidents, the public should be vigilant and report any incidents of criminality on 101, quoting reference number 961 26/10/20.”
