Woman failed to produce her driving licence when required, Court told

A woman motorist who failed to produce her driving licence when required to do so by police has found herself in court.

Londonderry Magistrates Court was told that the woman, Tara McColgan (35), with an address at Slievemore Park in the city, failed to produce her licence following an accident in which she was involved.

She was fined £125 at the Magistrate’s Court on charges of failing to produce her driving licence to police.

The court had heard how Ms McColgan had been involved in a damage only road traffic collision on January 24 of this year.

She did not have her licence with her at the time of the accident and was informed by police that she should produce it to Waterside Police Station within seven days, but failed to do so.

The court heard that McColgan did not respond to requests to produce the documents. Due to this District Judge Barney McElholm said he was fining her in excess of the minimum tariff.
