Woman given five year driving ban

A Maghera woman has lost her licence for five years for driving while having consumed excess alcohol in breath.

Philomena Quigg (43), of Sunnyside Park, was also fined £250 with a £15 offender levy.

Magherafelt Magistrates Court heard on Wednesday that the charge arose out of an incident at Crawfordsburn, Maghera, on April 27.

Imposing the penalties, District Judge Peter King remarked that it was “a significant reading” and given the defendant’s history she would not be suitable to take part in the drink-driving rehabilitation course.
