Work under way to key town junction

Motorists will not be permitted to turn right into Francis Street from Edward Street while work takes place to upgrade the junction with Sloan Street.

The diversion route will be via the Eastway/Portadown Rd roundabout. “Every attempt will be made to keep this right turn available during peak periods however this may not always be possible. Some delays may be expected from Sunday until Saturday, November 30,” said Roads Service.

“The junction will benefit from Puffin crossing facilities, an additional controlled crossing facility near St Paul’s Church and revised signal phasing. It is also hoped that advanced control software similar to that recently implemented at Queen St/Malcolm Rd junction in Lurgan will bring improvements to the traffic flows at this junction.”
