The earlier court heard that Lennox had arranged to meet the other male on January 26 last year.

Prosecution counsel said the injured party refused to fight him and the defendant had then grabbed him by the top he was wearing, tearing it, and pulled him out. She alleged that Lennox punched the victim at least 20 times breaking his nose, but defence lawyer Michael Forde denied the defendant had punched the male 20 times.

Mr Forde said the defendant worked as a warehouse operative and pleaded with the court not to “incarcerate him over the Christmas period”.

Imposing the sentence, Judge Mullan told Lennox, who appeared remotely from his solicitor’s office, that he was lucky he is not facing a custodial sentence.
