Youth apprehended by PSNI after M2 collision

A 16-year-old was apprehended by police on the M2 after officers responded to reports that the driver of a silver Lexus was swerving all over the southbound lanes yesterday evening (Wednesday).

After the driver failed to stop for police near Glengormley, the vehicle was involved in a road traffic collision on the Greencastle off-slip.

Detailing the incident, a spokesperson for the PSNI’s Road Policing unit said: “Roads Policing officers from Steeple received reports that the driver of a silver Lexus was swerving all over the M2 southbound passing Antrim.

“Police observed the car near Glengormley and signalled the driver to stop. The driver failed to stop and sped off, loosing control and crashing on the Greencastle off-slip.

“Thankfully no one was injured. The driver turned out to be 16 years old, and will subsequently have the explain to the local judge the reasons for their actions.”
