Croke Park to fall silent for Ballinderry star Aaron Devlin

A minute’s silence will be held at all games in Croke Park and across the country this weekend as a mark of respect to Ballinderry and Derry footballer Aaron Devlin.

Members of his club have been praised for their help and support as hundreds of mourners attend the wake.

The club have been helping organise transport to the Devlin home, as people from across the country have been coming to pay their respects to the talented footballer, who lost his battle with meningitis on Thursday evening.

People have taken to Facebook to praise the Ballinderry club and offer their prayers for the grieving Devlin family.

On man said: “Massive amount of help and support today, goes to show what a club Ballinderry are, and how we come together, especially for Aaron. Also thanks to the boys from Moortown club. Much appreciated. RIP Aaron.”

Another comment read: “Credit to a fantastic club on what can only be one of the hardest days you have ever had. The GAA family is the tightest family in sport.”

The funeral will be held in St Patrick’s Church Ballinderry at 12-00 noon on Sunday.
