The Assemblyman, who is also his party’s North Antrim Westminster candidate, revealed the success after receiving a letter of confirmation from his Ulster Unionist party colleague and Roads Minister Danny Kennedy MLA.

In his correspondence to Assemblyman Swann, Minister Kennedy said: “I am pleased to confirm that the legal process for introducing a speed limit of 40mph on the approaches to the recently completed Cromkill roundabout is already well advanced and should be completed within the next month.”

Responding, Assemblyman Swann said he was delighted.

“This is terrific news and I warmly welcome the successful conclusion of my campaign to get a recognized safe speed limit for this increasingly important junction,” he said.

“The introduction of the 40mph speed limit will assist road safety in this region and proves that the UUP is delivering for constituents,” Mr Swann added.

The construction of the roundabout was part of a £500,000 junction improvement scheme at Cromkill Road in the Ballee Road West area of Ballymena which got underway last October.
