Cross and Passion present £300 to Community Rescue Service

Pupils from Cross & Passion College have raised £300 to go towards Community Search & Rescue.

The cheque will be presented to Sean McCarry from the local search and rescue by Patrick Dallat a member of the school council.

The pupils involved are members of Cross & Passion’s School Council who this year decided their chosen charity would be Community Search and Rescue.

They set about with great ideas for fundraising such as bake sales, chocolate fountains and their big hit at Christmas time, candy canes. They took orders from lots of pupils to send a candy cane to that someone special. They delivered them all over the school the day before the Christmas holidays. What fun that was!

With these and other events they raised £300 for Community Search and Rescue.

The council said: “We would like to thank all those who helped us organise these events and who came out to support us.”

Made up of 20 members in total, the aim of the School Council is to listen to the thoughts and opinions of pupils, to empathise with their views on the day to day running of the school. Every September each class has the opportunity to vote for one representative who then sits on the council.  At induction they discuss their aims for the coming year and draw up a constitution.
