Cross hotel owners are nominated for top award

THE proprietors of the Belfray Country Inn are hotly tipped to be in the running for one of the most prestigious business awards in Northern Ireland.

Brian Loughlin and John Edgar are in the top three contenders in their category in the Ulster Tatler’s ‘People of the Year’ awards, and have been nominated to receive the ‘Hotelier/Publican of the Year’ title in recognition of the work they have done over the past three years in creating a haven of excellence in dining and hospitality at The Belfray, as it has become known locally.

The proprietors are travelling to Belfast tomorrow, Thursday, to the Waterfront Hall, for the glittering awards ceremony which each year attracts entries from the creme de la creme of the business and hospitality industries across the Province. This year there were 36 entries for the Entrepreneur title, and hopes are high that the two Waterside men will win big on the night.

Commenting on the nomination, Mr Loughlin said it would be wonderful to lift the title given that The Belfray would be in existence three years on Friday.

“It would be just wonderful to take the award on that milestone,” he said.

The other contenders for the title are: Grace Neills, of Hans Snr/Jnr, and Gareth Macklin, of Malone Lodge Hotel.
