Crossroads In Your Prime project seeks volunteers

Throughout Northern Ireland there are many elderly people who are at risk from isolation and loneliness perhaps due to bereavement, living alone or little access to services where they can meet new people and forge lasting friendships.

This lack of social interaction can be detrimental to an elderly person’s health.

Crossroads In Your Prime Project aims to tackle this issue by reaching, empowering and connecting older people through interaction with each other.

They want to attract older volunteers who are willing to support and encourage elderly people, by building friendships, reducing loneliness and creating a support network whilst also inspiring older people to contribute their skills and life experience.

The service which they need help with is the Befriending service where volunteers pop in once a week to visit an elderly person in their local area for a cuppa and a chat.

This service aims to tackle and reduce loneliness and isolation amongst elderly people by enabling them to form new friendships with our volunteers.
