CrumFun promises a great week for all the family

A WEEK of family fun is promised as Crumlin Community Week kicks off this Saturday - August 4.

The event is being organised by the Crumlin Community Forum’s Events Sub Group. Local groups are really pulling out all the stops to ensure that CrumFun is supported with many of the local community and voluntary groups running an activity during the week.

It will all culminate on Saturday August 11 from 11am to 4pm, at the community centre, when there will be a family fun day event. The Cool FM bus will be there and there will be a fancy dress competition, a doggy display, a scouting display and a martial arts display amongst others.

There will also be a climbing wall and mini inflatable assault course for children and young people to enjoy and local food merchants will be at the event.

There will be a School of Rock concert, performed by local young people and organised by the Musicians of Antrim District Development Group, who will take to the stage at 3pm to see the CrumFun event end with a high octane musical finale.

A member of the CrumFun sub group, Christine Costello said: “Not only is it a great chance for local groups to showcase the great work that they do all year round but it is also important that local people are encouraged to come out and support both the groups and their events.

“It’s a real opportunity for the community to come together to deliver a really fantastic event and we would like any of the local residents to get in touch with us and see how they can be involved.

“In particular we hope volunteers will come forward to support activities and events that take place over the week but mainly on the final day.”

There will be leaflets showcasing all the activities on notice boards and local shops in the near future.

The CrumFun event is funded by Antrim Borough Council and the Department of Social Development and the organisers hope it will be the first of many community weeks to be organised for the area in years to come.
