Crumlin college pupils ‘triumph’ in this year’s GCSE exams

These are impressive 
particularly in the light of the proposed arrangements for a Shared Education Post Primary School in Crumlin.

A ‘pleasing follow up’ inspection report earlier in the year upgraded the school to ‘satisfactory’ and the ETI stated that an “considerable number of improvements have taken place since the time of the original inspection in January 2010”.

One parent of a Year 12 pupil said, “I am so glad that I stuck with the school through all the hard times.”

Outstanding performers included Isaac Anderson, Amy Barron, Christopher Collier, David Graham, Matthew Hull and Conor Reid – who all achieved eight GCSEs at grade C and higher.

Impressive results were attained in most departments, but a special mention must go to the following: Double Award Science 100% A*-C; French 100% A*-C; Art and Design 100% A*-C; Engineering 100% A*-C; Motor Vehicle Inspection 100% A*-C; Single Award Science 86.4% A*-C; Hospitality 85.7% A*-C; Child Development 83.3% A*-C; Occupational Studies 80% A*-C.

The school says that is it is proud that pupils exceeded the overall predicted school targets this year.

The Chairman of the 
Board of Governors, Mr Stanley Smith, expressed his delight.

“I am very pleased with these results. They are a credit to the staff of the school.

“Coming on top of last year’s improvement, they confirm that the school is clearly moving in the right direction,” he said.
