Cullybackey Pipe Band start season on the right note

THE first competition for Cullybackey's Grade 1 Pipe Band was at Dungannon Park.

The band led by Pipe Major Andy McGreggor and Drum Sergeant Adrian Hoy took a solid third place in the competition.

This season the band has attracted players from all over the UK and one as far afield as Canada, some of which played at the Dungannon competition, this is very encouraging for the County Antrim Band and will help them maintain a position as one of the top Grade 1 bands in the world.

Cullybackey’s Grade 4A band also played at Dungannon led by Pipe Major Warren Robinson and Lead Drummer Jason Hoy. The band, made up mainly of youth from aged 9 years upwards earned a respectable 5th place in the competition.

Cullybackey Pipe Band have a great youth policy and believe in bringing players up through the grades, this takes a lot of time, effort and dedication from firstly the band members and more-so those involved in teaching as not only are they members of the band but also give up their free time voluntarily to teach others.
