Cullybackey plan approved

A PLANNING application for a development of 26 properties was approved by planners despite 35 letters of objection.

At last Thursday night’s Public Sector Liaison Committee, the application made by Hillmount Developments for 12 apartments 13 townhouses and 1 detatched dwelling at 19 and 21 Pottinger street Cullybackey, was succesful.

Speaking at the meeting, Alderman Roy Gillespie outlined that there were concerns on the effect the development will have on traffic in the area, especially at the "bottle neck at the school."

Senior Planning Officer Denise Kerr informed the meeting that Roads Service carried out a traffic assessment and concluded: "They don't have a problem with it."

She added those who objected had been given the opportunity to meet but "nobody took them up".
