Cullybackey WI Member’s night

THERE was a good turn out at the Cunningham Hall on May 3 for member’s night of Cullybackey WI.

President Eleanor McIlroy gave a warm welcome to all present and proceeded with a short business meeting.

She said she was delighted to tell us that Cullybackey WI had won the cup in the Scrap Book competition and also Crystal Rose Bowls for Best Scrap book cover and Best Single page. She congratulated Mary Cruikshank and Judith Adams and thanked them all for their work in compiling the Scrap book.

Entertainment for the evening was provided by members. This included a session of chair aerobics led by Jenny Carlton, Miriam Carlton and Essie Davidson, a quiz conducted by Rosemary Kennedy and some poems and stories from Maureen Adams and Rachel Swann.

The Henderson Davidson cup was won by Maureen Adams.

Recent craftwork successes: Rosemary Kennedy- Roe Valley Trophy; Elenor McIlroy- Silver Pin and Ribbons for Toymaking, Pictures and Plaques; Josephine Archer- Ribbons for Toymaking and Rushwork; Rosemary Courtney - Ribbons for Household and Rushwork; Elizabeth McIlroy- Ribbon for Rushwork.

After a delicious supper Eleanor McIlroy gave a vote of thanks to members on behalf of a committee.

A very enjoyable evening ended with the singing of ‘A Countrywoman’s Song’.
