Curtain is set to rise on Newtownabbey Drama Festival

NEWTOWNABBEY Drama Festival is set to take place in the Courtyard Theatre, Ballyearl from Monday, March 15 until Saturday, March 20, with curtain up at 8pm each evening - aside from on Saturday when the performance begins at 7.30pm.

Festival organiser, Mrs Maureen Dunn said this year’s event promised some superb entertainment.

Among the highlights of the week’s plays will be the opening show - ‘Our Town’ by Thornton Wilder which is on the GCSE curriculum this year.

“This would be a great opportunity for GCSE students to see the work they have been studying brought to life on stage by the highly acclaimed Rosemary Theatre Company, and to hear a constructive criticism by adjudicator Keith Thompson of The Guild of Drama Adjudicators,” said Mrs Dunn.

Other plays in the Newtownabbey Full Length Drama Festival include Theatre 3’s ‘Three Tall Women’ by Edward Albee, Brian Friel’s ‘Dancing at Lughnasa’ performed by The Clarence Players, and Brian Friel’s ‘Translations’ which is being staged by Wexford Drama Group.
