Curtain to go up on Portadown festival

Tuesday March 7 sees the curtain go up on the 81st Portadown Drama Festival in Portadown Town Hall Theatre at 8pm.

This year sees the welcome return of Keith Thompson as adjudicator. Keith proved very popular with audiences when he officiated here back in 2013.

Enniscorthy Drama Group start the festival on March 7 with ‘A Whistle in the Dark’ by Tom Murphy. Wexford Drama Group present ‘Portia Coughlan’ by Marina Carr on March 8 and Bangor Drama Club stage ‘Lovers’ by Brian Friel on March 9. The festival continues on Friday March 10 when The Clarence Players stage ‘The Mai’ by Marina Carr. Holywood Players present Humble Boy by Charlotte Jones on March 11 and Coolgreaney Amateur Drama Society take to the stage on March 13 with The Loves Of Cass Maguire.

The Bart Players stage Summer by Hugh Leonard on March 14 and Rosemary Drama Group stage Blue Stockings by Jessica Swal on March 15, Lislea Dramatic Players stage Juno and the Paycock by Sean O’Casey on March 16 and the festival rounds off on March 17 when Pomeroy Players present Eclipsed by Patricia Burke Brogan on March 17.
