Dalriada Sure Start celebrates

This was attended by mums from Portrush, Portstewart, Ballybogey, Ballymoney, Ballycastle and Cushendun. The mums also received a hand held breast pump at the end of the course.

On Friday 5 th August, Dalriada Rural Sure Start Health Visitor, Karen Cox held a special coffee morning to celebrate breastfeeding in the Ballymoney Sure Start offices. Every mum received a certificate and although it was presented by Sinead Lynch, Breastfeeding Coordinator for the Northern Health and Social Care Trust, it was in fact from the baby to the mum, thanking her for breastfeeding them.

Sarah McCulloch from “More” performing arts school in Coleraine then treated the mums and their babies/toddlers to a dance class.

Julie Virtue who is still breastfeeding Faye at 19 months and regularly attends the breastfeeding support group in Bushmills called the Yummy Mummy Group,

recently started her own business called ARTsea. Julie designed, made and presented every mum with a handmade gift especially for World Breastfeeding

Week. The heart decoration read, “Mum’s Milk, sweeter than cupcakes and filled with liquid love”.

A large number of mums attended the coffee morning and Tina Gregg the Early Years Team Leader in Sure Start and her team, made special nonalcoholic mocktails for the occasion. The mocktails were also enjoyed by Claire Crow, Clinical Lead for Health Visiting and Oonagh Neely, Health Visitor from Ballymoney.

The Bushmills Yummy Mummy Group meets on the second and fourth Mondays of the month from 10-12 and the Ballycastle Yummy Mummy Group meets on the First and Third Tuesdays of the month, also from 10-12.
