Damaged iron statue and a garden gate

A teenager who admitted damaging a cast iron statue and a garden gate will be sentenced next month at Craigavon Magistrates Court.

At last Wednesday’s hearing Jonathon Barton (18), Hill Street, Lurgan, pleaded guilty to criminal damage of the statue and gate and having an offensive weapon, namely an iron bar on January 4 this year.

Deputy District Judge Anne Marshall said the defendant was a young man with a considerable number of previous convictions and a pre-sentence report was absolutely essential.

She adjourned sentencing until March 2 so that a report could be obtained.
