Damask Community Outreach holds AGM

Damask Community Outreach held its fourth Annual General meeting recently and reflecting on the past year, Chairman Harold Baird said he was impressed with the progress which had been achieved.

Referring to some of the programmes, such as the very successful ‘Advice Service’ and ‘Youth Programmes’.

Mr Baird mentioned the enormous amount of work which had been undertaken by almost 70 volunteers across the organisation

Mr Baird went on to acknowledge the contribution to the Group of Partners such as LisburnCastlereagh City Council, Tearfund and the Joseph Rank Trust.

He stressed that whilst programmes were important, the real focus of Damask was about individuals and improving their quality of life, an ethos that comes from the Methodist Church under whose name this project was promoted.

In his address, Guest of Honour Bob Stronge, Chief Executive, Advice NI, spoke about the wide range of services which are offered by Advice NI and revealed that more than 270,000 advice enquires had been received during the past year.

Mr Stronge also spoke of the challenges facing Community Groups in the current times of economic stringency and praised Damask for its progressive, innovative and caring approach.
