Damask connects with community

FOLLOWING its launch in September 2011 Damask Community Outreach has had a busy period.

During this time Damask has run computer classes, community arts programmes in association with the Island Arts Centre, health advice sessions with help from the local chemist, monthly benefits drop-ins with an adviser from DSD Benefits Outreach and monthly tea dances. As well as this a Parent and Toddler group meets every Wednesday morning, attended by a growing number of parents, grandparents and carers, along with their babies and toddlers.

Plans are being finalised for a Community Family Fun Day which will happen in the grounds of Forthill Primary School on Saturday June 16 from 11am-3pm. A befriending service providing friendship and support to older people is ready to start and plans are in place for a Community Advice/Advice Signposting Drop-In which will start this summer. Damask is committed to serving the community and to providing appropriate services and is keen to get feedback. An open invitation is extended to anyone interested to meet for an informal chat over a free cup of coffee and scone at Stepping Stones Café, Seymour Street, Lisburn on Wednesday May 30 at 10.30am. If you would be interested in attending contact Brian on 07736 715602 / 92662303 or Jane on 07778 690694 / 92634803 or email [email protected]
