Darron Gibson’s greatest fan - Wayne Rooney’s son

LONDONDERRY man Darron Gibson appears to have found himself a new greatest fan – Wayne Rooney’s son and Everton fan Kai.

Rooney had his son decked out in full Everton FC gear recently – with the name of Londonderry man Darron Gibson on the back.

His wife, Colleen Rooney took to social media website Twitter’ to share the photograph of Wayne and son Kai practising a spot of golf, with the youngster in full Evertonian dress.

A former ‘Toffees’ player who grew up on Merseyside, Rooney later moved to Manchester United, where he became friends with Gibson.

Darron Gibson, or ‘Gibbo’ as his team-mates like to call him, later moved in the opposite direction to join up with blue half of Merseyside and has since established himself as a first-team regular.

Rooney’s wife, Colleen, shared the picture of son Kai practising golf with the name and number of Gibson emblazoned on the back – prompting another former Manchester United player to comment: “Can’t believe he’s got Gibbo’s shirt on!!!”

Phil Neville, who spent years at Man United playing alongside players of the calibre of David Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Roy Keane, later joined Everton for regular first-team football and went on to become team captain.

He felt compelled to comment on the picture of young Kai Rooney decked out in full Everton gear directly to Colleen, who had shared the picture with her Twitter ‘followers’. He said: “Can’t believe he’s got Gibbo’s shirt on!!!”
