Darryl Wilson calls for answers on vacant JDLC Cafe

Councillor Darryl Wilson has asked Council officers at Tuesday's Leisure and Development committee why the cafe at JDLC has been vacant for almost 28 months.

He explained: “The Cafe and surrounding area at JDLC was fully refurbished a number of years ago leaving it a fantastic, modern facility. However due to increasing running costs the old Ballymoney Borough Council decided to shut the facility in November 2013.

“The fact that the cafe has been closed for such a long time is having a negative impact on the centre. It is also worth noting that Council could have been acquiring rent for the facility over the last few years reducing the financial burden to the ratepayers by many thousands, this could have also arguably increased the footfall within the leisure centre.”

Cllr Wilson has asked for an update to be brought back to same committee within one month with a view to having the situation resolved in the very near future.
