Date set for street fair

Members of Whitehead Community Association have requested that Carrickfergus Borough Council hold this year’s Christmas lights switch on ceremony in the village on Saturday November 29 to coincide with the date of the Victorian Street fair.

The local authority was advised that the original date for the switch on was the previous weekend, Saturday November 22.

Councillors agreed to the request to combine the two events.

An annual event in the town, the street fair sees visitors transported back to Victorian times as traders, residents and entertainers don costumes from the era during a full-day of festive activities.
