John and Shona Mulholland were among 30 people who walked across burning embers at Belfast Harlequins Rugby Club in support of The Cedar Foundation.

The money raised will enable the organisation to continue its work of supporting and empowering children and adults with disabilities across Northern Ireland.

The participants attended a motivational training session prior to the main event which was led by fire master Adam Burman from BLAZE Firewalking.

Throughout the seminar, according to the organisers, those taking part were given inspiration and encouragement to walk across 20 feet of wood embers burning at 1200° Fahrenheit “without experiencing any pain or injury”.

They were also given the chance to watch the fire being lit, which did nothing to hinder their determination.

John has taken part in firewalking for Cedar before but for his daughter it was a totally new adventure.

“We are delighted to raise money for The Cedar Foundation in this way. Walking over hot coals in you bare feet just proves what you can do when you put your mind to it,” said John and Shona.

Christine Tweedie, from The Cedar Foundation, extended thanks to all the “fearless” participants who volunteered to take part in the firewalk.

She added: “Everyone had a great time on the night and an amazing amount of money was raised for Cedar.”

The Cedar Foundation delivers a range of services in Northern Ireland that enable children and adults with disabilities to be fully included in their communities.
