Davy’s all set for his sit out

WHAT a year it’s been for Davy Boyle!

He’s met the Prime Minister, David Cameron, and he’s braved the icy waters of the Atlantic Ocean to take part in a surf lesson.

Despite the thrills, the big man is all set for his annual sit out, which will begin next Monday.

And Davy is hoping the kind people of Coleraine will help him reach his £51,000 target for this year.

Davy has shed an incredible FIVE stone ahead of next Monday’s sit out.

But, he says he’ll be putting on plenty of layers to fill out his freezer suit in a bid to make up for the weight he’s lost!

“I can’t believe that its time for my sit out again,” Davy told The Times.

“I’ll be starting on Monday, December 3 and that’ll be me right through to Christmas Eve.

“I’ll be out in my usual spot in front of the Christmas tree at the Town Hall from 7.30 each morning.”

If Davy reaches his target for this year, he’ll have raised a staggering £400,000 from when he started his fundraising back in 2002.

“I’ve lost weight this year, but I am sure I’ll probably put on a few pounds during my sit out,” admitted Davy.

“I am always overwhelmed by the generosity of the people.

People bring me tea and buns, breakfasts, you name it - I am never hungry!”

Davy went on to say a special thank you to Raymond Thompson and Tina Campbell of the Blind Centre for the seat that he’ll will be sitting on again this year during his sit out.

“I am sitting at a total of £16,000 so far this year, so I hope I can reach my target.

“I am always amazed at the kindness of people.

“We are going through tough times, but even during this recession people find the time to think of others and donate to charity.”
