Deadline looms for People's Millions contest

THERE are now just a few weeks left for groups in the Newtownabbey area to put in their bids to win up to £50,000 in the Big Lottery Fund's People's Millions contest 2010.

The Big Lottery Fund is joining forces with UTV to encourage local organisations to enter the People’s Millions competition before the noon deadline on May 14.

The initiative gives groups the chance to appear on UTV and win a grant of up to 50,000 to improve and enrich their communities. UTV viewers will be able to vote on which local community they want to win the Lottery good cause funding when the on-air contest hits TV screens in November.

Since the launch of People’s Millions in 2005, more than 1.2 million has been awarded to 22 projects across Northern Ireland. Previous winners, which include Hill Croft School in New Mossley, have been using their awards to make their local communities better places to live.
