Death of former Town Clerk
The death has occurred of Mervyn Rankin, former Town Clerk and Chief Executive of Ballymena Borough Council.
Mr Rankin, who passed away on Saturday, was currently Chair of the Northern Ireland Local Government Staff Commission and a Board Member of the Northern Health and Social Care Trust.
SDLP Councillor Declan O’Loan said: “I was shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden death of Mervyn Rankin. He was an outstanding public official and his passing is a great loss to public life at a time when he was still very active and making an important contribution.”
