Death of man 'not suspicious'

A man's body was recovered in a coastal area near Ballycastle on Sunday.

Police confirmed that the man, who was 30, was found in the water at Murlough Bay, an isolated rocky area between Ballycastle and Cushendun, around 9am.

It is understood that there are no suspicious circumstances and that the death is being treated as accidental.

The victim is understood to have been with a group of around five people visiting the remote beauty spot.

Cathal Newcombe, Sinn Fein Moyle councillor, said: "It is another terrible tragedy for the area.

"It would be a rocky area, you would have to scramble quite a bit to get to the water."

He said he thought the group had been camping.
