Death of teenage girl described as ‘an unspeakable loss’

Police are investigating after a teenage girl died suddenly this morning.

The girl, who is aged 19, is understood to have died in a flat at Drumgor Heights, Craigavon.

Police are currently at the scene.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Police attended the sudden death of a woman at an address at the Drumgor Heights area of Craigavon this morning (Thursday 28th January).

“A post mortem is due to be held to establish the cause of death.

“There are no further details at this time.”

SDLP Upper Bann MLA, Dolores Kelly expressed her condolences to the young girl’s family.

The Upper Bann MLA said: “My thoughts are with the family and friends of the young woman. This is a terrible tragedy and an unspeakable loss for her family and loved ones.”

“I would urge the local community, who are understandably very shocked and saddened by this event, to allow the PSNI time and space to complete their investigation.”

“I will keep this young woman and their loved ones in my thoughts and prayers.”

SDLP Craigavon Councillor, Thomas Larkham said: “This is devastating news for the family and loved ones of this young woman, but a shock to the wider community in Craigavon. I hope people will pull together and support this family in their time of grief.”
